Nixie tube clocks are clear glass tubes with low pressure gas inside the nixie tube that glows orange on the application of power-to the cathode. The display digits are from zero to nine, this can interfaced to a BCD outputs configuration with not much problem on the interfacing. Mounting on a PCB, the design of the fly lead pins are so long that makes soldering a beginers task. The glass tubing houses a wire meshing anode plus a multiple cathodes. Nixie tube were first made in the 1960's but now are just used for an ornamental
nixie tube clock after spending 30 years in a petrol pump.A Nixie tube is 18 mm in high on it's digits and 30mm over all.
